You’ve seen it before. That beautiful, black, rich coat of mulch that looks absolutely stunning when applied properly to the garden beds, trees and bushes, or the foundation of a home. The aesthetically pleasing look screams out Springtime and helps usher in the start of a new season.
But beyond looks, mulch is necessary for many different reasons to maintain a healthy yard. That’s why we offer it to our customers at Rasmussen Landscaping LLC.
We prepare your beds for mulch. We kill and remove any weeds that might be in the way, prune nearby bushes and trees if needed, edge the beds so they look nice and sharp, rake the soil, then mulch!
Mulch helps prevent weeds from sprouting. When we add between one to two inches of fresh mulch on a bed around your property, it instantly takes away the sunlight that weeds thrive on to survive.
Mulch also helps keep the fresh moisture in and saves you time and money by not having to constantly water your plants. This in turn also helps regulate the temperature underneath the mulch as it acts as an insulator - keeping roots cool in the spring and summer, and warm in the fall and winter. It also protects shallow root plants from freeze damage when the temperatures really start to dip.
As mulch biodegrades over time, it adds vital nutrients to your soil so that they continue to grow strong and healthy.
In some cases erosion on your property can also be prevented when mulch is applied. When heavy rainfall occurs, it can wash away your soil. Mulch actually absorbs the impact of rain when it touches the ground.
We typically start mulching at the end of March and go all the way through April. You should have mulching done every year and spread 1 to 2 inches thick. Your mulch should be replenished or replaced when signs of deterioration are present.
We offer a variety of different colors and blends of mulch to suit your needs and property style.
